Lake Forest is a great place to live, but it could be even better.

• Traffic is bad. The Alton Pkwy Extension still isn`t built and our traffic lights in the city are not synchronized. The city council has done little in the past 10 years to improve the situation. The city council needs to be more proactive in meeting these challenges and in working with the State and the County to solve these problems. Dr. Jim Gardner is a "results oriented" person. He can get it done.
• We are carelessly spending money, on $600 portraits for city council members, hundreds of thousands of dollars for affordable housing without ever evaluating the effectiveness of these programs, etc. Dr. Jim Gardner is an astute businessman and worked as a Management Consultant to Fortune 500 companies. He`ll watch our money and be sure it`s spent wisely.
• Our council bickers shamelessly among themselves while treating citizens in a disgraceful manner. Dr. Jim Gardner will open up government to the people. He will televise council meetings, make them accessible on the Internet, and treat people with dignity and respect.
• Council members accept money from businesses that also do business with the city. Though not illegal, this is clearly wrong. Dr. Jim Gardner will promote honest government. He will accept no money from any company doing business with the city and insist on transparency.
• Lake Forest spends more than $30,000,000 per year but less than 5% of it is spent in our city. We hire musicians, electricians, plumbers, laborers, printers, etc. from other cities and we even purchase food from restaurants in other cities. In addition, most of the highly paid staff on the city`s payroll don`t live in Lake Forest.  Jim Gardner will "Put Lake Forest First."

Dr. Jim Gardner has the competence, leadership abilities, and honesty to lead us into the future.
